Element K online instructor-led classes generally require the following:

• A textbook
• A software package, and sometimes,
• Access to a Web server (for most of our Web Development courses)

Access to this feature may not be part of your subscription. If you cannot see this feature on the site, ask your administrator about feature availability.

How to purchase a book required for class

All required books are available for purchase through the Store. You can buy your book while you're registering for a class. We've linked the required book title in the Course Catalog to the order page in our store. See the Book FAQ for questions about books for Element K classes.

To purchase a book required for an online instructor-led course:

1. Register for an online instructor-led class (some workshops may require a textbook).
2. Click Order This Book button to purchase the required textbook. This takes you to the exact page for the book you're ordering.
3. Add the book to your shopping cart by clicking shopping cart to the right of the specified title.
4. Click Checkout. The Checkout page will display.
5. Complete the billing and shipping information, then click Continue. (* indicates a required field.)
6. Click the arrow in the Shipping Method drop-down list box to select your shipping method. (If you need more information on shipping methods and cost, click the arrow next to Shipping Information).
7. Complete the payment information payment method, then click Place Order.
8. Your order # displays with a message stating the order has been confirmed and payment has been authorized. (If your order was not processed see purchasing errors.

Element K Return Policy

Element K accepts returns of resalable books provided the books are the current version, in the original shrink-wrap, have no stickers attached, are not designated special order status, and have been purchased within the last 45 days.

You must request an Returned Materials Authorization (RMA) number before you return a book. A Customer Service Representative will contact you and give you an RMA number, along with additional instructions on returning the book. You will not receive credit for books returned without an RMA number.

To request an RMA number:

1. Go to the Store from the navigation bar at Element K.
2. Click Check Order Status in the Store navigation bar.
3. Click the order # link to display the Order Status page.
4. On the Order Status page, complete the required information in the Product Return Request area, then click Request.
5. Read the information on the Product Return Request page concerning your order. A Customer Service Representative will contact you and give you an RMA number along with other information you'll need to know on returning the product.

How to get software required for a class

Currently, we do not sell software in the Store. If a class requires specific software (such as Adobe Photoshop or Microsoft Excel), it's up to you to acquire the software for it. Make sure you have the software installed and working before the class begins. (See the Software FAQ for additional information.)

How can I get access to a Web server? (Web hosting services)

Some Element K classes require that you have your own Web pages, or require that you are working off of a shared server. To meet those needs, SiteAmerica has developed a Web hosting package specifically for Element K members. Features of this package include 20 MB of server space, FrontPage scripts, Telnet access, and private FTP.
